“I Believe That The Best Commercial Work Doesn't Feel Like Advertising. It Feels Like Cinema. My Role Is To Find The Emotional Core Of A Brand's Story And Express It With The Visual Richness It Deserves. Every Frame Should Earn Its Place.”
Featured in Little Black Book among Canada's best and brightest rising directors of 2024, Martin Marko is a 30-something professional filmmaker with a focus on writing, directing, and editing.
Over the years, he has worked in nearly every role on set — from camera assistant and DP to Lead Editor, Colorist, and 2D Animator — building an end-to-end understanding of the craft while collaborating with brands like Ikea, Audi, Pilsner, and Autodesk.
His documentary short At Sea was nominated for the WeAreDN Awards 2026 by Director's Notes, among the five best short documentaries of the year.
Recently, Martin has been writing and directing commercials for major brands — IKEA, Ford, HP, Sleep Country, RMHC (Ronald McDonald House Charities), and Entrust. His Ford Mustang Mach-E campaign was shortlisted for the Fénix Awards in the Czech Republic. He has also, accidentally, become one of Canada's foremost mattress directors.
Anchored in bold visuals, immersive sound, and performances that feel lived-in rather than performed, Martin's work is overflowing with humanity and a dash of humor. Every frame is crafted to be felt — commercials with the soul of a short film.
